Tracking the tropics:

We’ve been tracking a disorganized low-pressure system in the Atlantic. It has finally organized and will become a depression before Monday and by Monday afternoon, a tropical storm as it approaches the Lesser Antilles. When it forms, it will be called “Ernesto.”

A low pressure in the Atlantic will become a depression late Sunday and then Tropical Storm Ernesto Monday.

Soon-to-be “Ernesto” will continue to track through the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, bringing heavy rainfall, increased surf, and strong winds. On Wednesday, it will march north of Puerto Rico and continue to strengthen to a category 1 hurricane. The storm is on track to push north towards Bermuda by the end of the week as a category 2 hurricane.

Right now, model guidance continues to push this away from the United States, but we’ll have to keep a close eye on any minor changes in the atmosphere over the coming days.

10-day Forecast:

Temperatures in the upper 90s with a few days in the triple digits. Stay cool, we are in the hottest part of the year. Sea breeze showers and storms are possible otherwise, expect more dry than wet time.
