Houston has a rain chance today

Isolated downpours will give a wee break for afternoon commuters

Houstonians work to combat excessive heat

HOUSTON – We get this question a lot when the temperatures reach 100+, “When are we going to see some relief from this crazy heat??”

Sometimes, we wish we could snap our fingers and instantly make it cooler, but it IS Texas and it IS August so we’re stuck with it.

However, there may be a chance to see some minor relief over the next couple of afternoons.

Now, this won’t be back to the 70s and 80s, but some folks could see a quick heavy downpour later this week.

The chance is very isolated. That will be the story for Thursday as we have a leftover boundary sitting across the area.

Here’s what the storms will look like Thursday. Notice that they are a little larger and more widespread but still not enough to provide coverage for more than some lucky folks.

The good news is we’ll finally flip the script on this forecast going into next week as storms will move back into the picture starting Monday through most of next week.
