Sunday’s Forecast:
HOUSTON – Sunday is mostly to partly sunny but there is a chance for isolated showers and storms.
Now let’s talk temperatures - the heat isn’t going anywhere Sunday highs still climb into the mid and upper 90s with feels-temperatures around 100.
Pattern Change:
Rain chances will increase Monday instead of isolated they turned scattered. Here’s why - the high pressure that has been baking Texas begins to move north into the Central Plains. This will help temperatures drop out of the low 100s to the mid 90s.
We are also tracking a surface low sliding in from the eastern side of the Gulf, that will help pull in deeper tropical moisture that will bring an uptick in rain chances. Chances for afternoon downpours during the last week of August.
Tracking The Tropics:
No tropical activity is expected in the next 7-days in the Atlantic. The next named storm will be Francine, but this is not likely within the next seven days.
10-day Forecast:
Our weather pattern changes next week. Tropical moisture moves in, lowering temperatures and increasing rain chances. Day 9 is the first day of September.
If you’re seeking out cooler weather, we do expect a gradual cooling in the month of September. Our average high drops to 88° by the end of the month. Our average low drops to 67° - thank goodness!
Even though we expect our temperatures to cool seasonally, the Climate Prediction Center expects most of the United States to be above average through the month. As a reminder our latest 100° day was September 27th after Hurricane Rita.
