Tonight we will see temperatures fall into the mid-70s with a 20% chance for showers and storms.
Saturday’s Forecast:
We have a chance for showers and drizzle through the day. Not the best pool day, but not a washout! It’s a 30-40% chance for rainfall which means if rain does move in just wait for it to pass.
If you’re hosting a Labor Day Weekend pool party or BBQ, there’s no need to cancel, but I would pay attention to the radar and head indoors for 30 minutes if you hear thunder.
Some areas along the coast could see heavy rain which could lead to flash flooding. It is on the low side, but it is still there!
Tracking The Tropics:
The National Hurricane Center is now monitoring the low-pressure system in the northwestern Gulf of Mexico for tropical development, but don’t sound the alarm. This is the same low we have been tracking all week that has been bringing our showers and storms.
The low will continue to meander off the coast as it drifts towards Louisiana. If it stays over the warm Gulf waters, it has a chance for development, but it is a low chance. A 10% chance in the next two days and only a 20% in the next seven days.
There’s also a few waves out in the Atlantic. The chance is 40% during the next seven days. with another tropical wave behind it that may see some initial development, 20% chance of that over the weekend.
10-day Forecast:
We have daily chances for showers and storms through the 10-day forecast. This is not a total washout, but instead on-and-off showers and storms. This means you should not cancel any outdoor Labor Day Weekend plans but do be mindful that there could be a few storms moving through.
If you’re seeking out cooler weather, we do expect a gradual cooling in the month of September. Our average high drops to 88° by the end of the month. Our average low drops to 67° - thank goodness!
Even though we expect our temperatures to cool seasonally, the Climate Prediction Center expects most of the United States to be above average through the month. As a reminder our latest 100° day was September 27th after Hurricane Rita.
