Thursday’s Forecast:

Thursday forecast will be much10 Day Forecast like the previous couple of days- sunny, hot and humid with temperatures in the upper 90s. It will be another day of triple-digit “feels-like” temperatures. We’re starting to see more humidity moving back into the picture as well, so the sticky factor in your afternoon will start to go way up!

Highs will reach the mid-90s. (Copyright 2024 by KPRC Click2Houston - All rights reserved.)

Summer Remains In Charge This Week:

A hot dome of high pressure continues to dominate our weather pattern for most of this week and into the coming weekend. Part of the culprit is a large mid-level high pressure ridge that is centered across much of Texas, largely influencing our weather pattern. The result of this pattern is called an Omega Block. Meaning that on either coast, the jet stream is dipping south so the hot high pressure dominating our weather is strengthened and forced up into the Central Plains.

Tracking the Tropics:

We are watching the long-range forecast for the tropics that suggests there could be formation between September 25 and October 1st in the area below shaded in dark red. Most of our models have any development headed to either Florida or potentially Mississippi or Alabama. The benefit of our high-pressure system is it would block us from any tropical systems that would form.

It is possible we will see development before October 1. (Copyright 2024 by KPRC Click2Houston - All rights reserved.)

The National Hurricane Center began monitoring this system at 7PM Tuesday night. They say there is a 20% chance of development over the next week and a 0% over the next two days.

There is a low chance for development over the next week. (Copyright 2024 by KPRC Click2Houston - All rights reserved.)
10-day Forecast:

We stay dry. Highs will be in the 90s, but morning lows will be comfortable in the mid-70s! The start of fall is Sunday, but it will still feel like summer here in SE Texas.
