HOUSTON – The first day of fall this year fell on Sunday, Sept. 22.

While Houston has had a few cool fronts so far since then that have reduced humidity and made it feel pretty nice, our afternoons have still been hot with some days reaching into the 90s.

That looks to change next week with the arrival of our first “real” fall cold front.

Here is what we are expecting.

Cold Front timing

Monday will still be hot with temperatures topping out in the mid-90s.

That changes Tuesday though as our front makes its way through the area. Tuesday will be a transition day with highs in the 80s as the cooler air slowly moves in.

By Wednesday we will have highs in the 70s, how nice!

Tuesday is October 15th, which is actually pretty seasonal for our first fall front to arrive! Last year and in 2021 our first big cold front arrived in Mid-October.

If you were expecting any rain with this upcoming cold front, don’t count on it. This front looks to be a dry one, but at least for a few days, Houston gets to enjoy cooler temperatures with highs in the mid to upper 70s during the day. Nighttime lows will be in the mid to upper 50s.
