Sunday Showers Continue:
Don’t put the umbrella away. There will be spotty to scattered showers and an isolated thunderstorm. Sunday morning’s rain will be the least active, but more showers will stream into SE Texas by the afternoon. Sunday evening’s showers will become isolated before ending by 7 pm.
Time Change:
Don’t forget daylight saving time ends this weekend. Most devices will automatically change this for you, but ovens, microwaves, old cars, and wall clocks will need to be set back an hour before bed on Saturday. 2 AM becomes 1 AM Sunday morning, which in theory gives us an extra hour of sleep. I say in theory because for this to occur you need to go to bed at the same time and wake up at the same time Friday and Saturday night. For example, if you go to bed at 10 pm and wake up at 7 am both nights you’ll get an extra hour of sleep. Since 2 am happens twice Sunday you get an extra hour. This is also a good time to change the batteries on your smoke detectors and CO2 alarms.
Big changes for our sunrise and sunsets start Sunday. Early risers typically love this time change because our sunrise is in the 6AM hour starting Sunday. Sunset are an hour earlier near 5:30 PM.
Early Week Front:
A cold front will move into Texas on Monday. Ahead of the front, SE Texas will see showers, but the steadiest arrive when the front arrives late Monday into Tuesday. So be prepared for a soggy day if you head to the polls.
Tropical Outlook:
There are two areas of development in the Atlantic Basin. One is located in the southwestern Caribbean Sea, and it has a 70% chance of developing over the next two days and 80% over the next seven days. The next area of development is located north of Puerto Rico and Hispaniola. This wave has a 10% chance of developing over the next seven days. Historically, storms do not impact the Texas coastline this time of year, but we will continue to monitor the path of these waves.
10-day Forecast:
A cold front arrives early in the week, bringing more rain and thunderstorms on Election Day. Late in the week, another front arrives, increasing rain chances into the weekend.
