Highs in the 80s stick around

Thursday’s Forecast:

HOUSTON – A little light rain will move in overnight. I’m going with a 20% chance of a light shower for the ride to work.

Hurricane Rafael:

Rafael became a major category 3 hurricane Wednesday afternoon before hitting western Cuba. It is now in the Gulf of Mexico.

As Rafael moves into the Central Gulf it will get blocked by a cold front. That front will slow it down and steer it toward Mexico or possibly stall it in the Gulf. Neither scenario has direct impacts to SE Texas outside of elevated rip currents and rough seas.

10-day Forecast:

The same front steering Rafael gives us a chance of rain this weekend. The front doesn’t look like it makes it all the way through. That’s why you don’t see a change in temperatures early next week. Another cold front is expected Wednesday, and this one will lower temperatures at the end of next week.
