Friday’s Forecast:
Friday will be warm and muggy with highs in the 80s. Rain chances will be spotty at best, sliding in from the coast, but most areas will just stay muggy and warm for the next few days.
Hurricane Rafael:
Rafael has moved back out over the Gulf of Mexico as a hurricane. As we have been forecasting this week, Rafael is moving into some rougher conditions and is expected to slowly downgrade over the next few days.
As Rafael moves into the Central Gulf it will get blocked by a cold front. That front will slow it down and steer it toward Mexico or possibly stall it in the Gulf.
There is no threat to us. Three will be zero direct impacts to SE Texas outside of elevated rip currents and rough seas.
Strong Fall Cold Front:
It has been a very warm Autumn. For the month of October we were nearly 4° above average and so far in November we’ve been in the mid-and-upper 80s every day. This is NOT normal. Our normal high this time of year should be in the mid-70s.
Changes are coming as it finally looks like we will see our first big fall front next week. Our current timing brings the cold front through next Wednesday. This will bring a rain chance but more importantly this will bring a big cool down.
This cold front will be noticeable as it moves through with a dramatic drop in temperatures, humidity and wind shift. This will also drop highs down into the upper-60s and lower-70s. Lows will drop to the upper-40s and 50s.
The timing of the cold front could shift slightly, but we are fairly confident that we will finally have a healthy cool down next week.
10-day Forecast:
The same front steering Rafael away from Texas gives us a chance of rain this weekend. The front doesn’t look like it makes it all the way through. That’s why you don’t see a change in temperatures early next week. Another cold front is expected Wednesday, and this one will lower temperatures at the end of next week. We’re still waiting on actual fall weather to hold for more than just a day!
