Monday morning will start with patchy fog, so if you’re heading into work, keep in mind that visibility might be affected. By late morning, skies should clear, leaving behind mostly sunny conditions and warming temperatures. The afternoon high is expected to reach 84°, just a few degrees short of the 1978 record of 87°.
Rafael is no more:
On Sunday, Rafael transitioned into a post-tropical system, meaning it lost its tropical characteristics. It will drift harmlessly southward and dissipate. What’s remarkable about this is how rare it is for a hurricane to enter the Gulf without making landfall. The last time this happened was in 1980 with Hurricane Jeanne.
Cool front Wednesday:
It’s been an unusually warm autumn. In October, temperatures were nearly 4° above average, and so far in November, we’ve seen mid-to-upper 80s almost every day, except for one. This is far from typical, as our average high for this time of year is in the mid-70s. Changes are coming on Wednesday, but like the fronts we’ve seen this fall, temperatures won’t drop dramatically.
10-day Forecast:
You’ll notice that the 10-day forecast remains warm overall. We’ll see a brief cool-down on Thursday and Friday, but for most of the week, highs will stay in the 80s. However, I want to draw your attention to next Wednesday. Long-range data suggests that beyond day 10, temperatures could take a significant dip. We’ll keep you updated.
