HOUSTON – After what feels like the longest late summer... ever... in Houston, we’re finally seeing signs of actual crockpot-friendly weather with a strong cold front moving in early next week!
The problem over the last six weeks is that the jet stream has been fairly zonal, meaning the cold air form Canada has been largely bottled up across the northern tier of the U.S.
Meanwhile, we’ve been seeing a large ridge of high pressure over Texas in the higher part of the atmosphere that has kept the warm and muggy air on top of Texas. As you can see above, the jet stream finally dips well into the southern U.S. and brings some chilly air with it!
Here is a sequence of what to expect after the front moves through on Tuesday:
We haven’t seen low 40s since last spring! But that’s just the tip of the crockpot (get it?) in terms of the colder air that will be ushered in for the remainder of next week.
