Today’s Forecast:
HOUSTON – Temperatures are going up again after a slight dip in temperatures on Friday. Today we’re tracking above average temperatures, but not quite record-breaking with partly sunny conditions. Sunday, temperatures will go up again, but we’re also tracking rain throughout the day.
You can track your hour- by-hour forecast here:
Cold Front #2:
Next week holds the potential for a more significant cold front, with models suggesting a more pronounced dip in the jet stream.
This front will bring cooler temperatures, with highs in the 60s and morning lows beginning in the upper 40s. Get the pots ready, because it’s soup weather! While our latest modeling has adjusted to put the coldest air a little further east of Texas, we’ll still be able to grab on to a good chunk of it. That will help to keep temps for most of next week a little more fall-like, generally mornings in the 40s and highs in the mid 60s.
Tracking The Tropics:
Tropical Storm Sara continues to drench parts of Central America with life-threatening flash flooding as she works her way across parts of the Yucatan Peninsula this weekend. If you have travel plans to Cozumel or even Cancun, it won’t be a very sunny weekend.
The eventual forecast and track for Sara is a better one for our friends in Florida, as Sara will run into some rough conditions in the Gulf. It appears that Sara will fall apart and get caught up with Tuesday’s cold front, pushing some extra clusters of showers and thunderstorms into Florida, but nothing organized, thankfully.
As for this season as a whole, it has been extremely busy. In a normal season we expect to see 14 named storms, of which 7 become hurricanes and 3 become major hurricanes. So far, we have seen 17 named storms, of which 11 have become hurricanes and of those 5 have become major hurricanes.
10-day Forecast:
You’ll notice that the 10-day forecast remains warm overall. We’ll see a brief cool-down on Thursday and Friday, but for most of the week, highs will stay in the 80s. However, I want to draw your attention to next Wednesday. We could get our first chilly air of the season.
