Severe weather in Houston for Christmas Eve

HOUSTON – We’re tracking another warm day on Christmas Eve ahead of the cold front, which brought rain, thunderstorms and even hail in the afternoon hours. Click 2 Insiders sent us videos and picture of the hail from Cypress, Texas.

Now that the afternoon storms are over - we’ll continue to track the chance for more severe weather tonight into Christmas morning.

Christmas Eve: Tracking the chance for rain and thunderstorms Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

The current timing has us stormy through the overnight hours. This shouldn’t be a problem at all with Rudolph on Santa’s team - they’ve traveled through much worse.

Obviously, this line has a chance to bring in some noisy thunderstorms overnight with some strong wind gusts, lightning and heavy rain for less than an hour or so.

he line will be moving quick enough to keep flood concerns at bay, most rainfall totals will be between half and inch to an inch. Some ponding on roads but nothing major.

If you’re headed to the Texans game on Wednesday - we have a slight chance for lingering showers but the forecast should turn partly cloudy around noon with temperatures in the 70s.

We will warm up this week which means there’s a 0% chance of seeing a white Christmas. Our temperatures look to stay above average as we approach the end of 2024.
