Bracing for a weather rollercoaster: severe weather and freezing temps on the horizon

Severe weather risk

Severe weather threat levels

HOUSTON – Hey there, weather watchers! Meteorologist Brittany Begley here to guide you through a day of shifting weather patterns. Most of our area is under a “green” zone, synonymous with a relatively mild one out of five risk for severe weather. However, folks east of us, in places like Woodlands and Livingston, need to be a tad more alert as they face a two out of five risk level.

Weather phenomena to watch

While it’s not certain, the atmosphere could foster conditions that may lead to isolated tornadoes. Staying updated with weather alerts on TV and online is a wise move as we navigate these potential shifts.

Specific timeframe

Keep an eye out for showers starting mid-day. We might see a line of showers creeping from College Station and moving towards Houston. By the afternoon, those living in coastal communities might experience more intense weather.

Drastic temperature drops

Timeline for temperature changes

Be prepared for the cold front making its way through. Today began with temperatures in the upper sixties and seventies, but come 7 p.m., expect those digits to tumble into the forties and fifties. Notably, spots like Huntsville might drop to 44 degrees, while Paraline might see 56 degrees, with even the coast dipping to around 59 degrees.

Impact on the community

These shifts are quite the change from our usual warm mornings. Today’s high is clocking at around 78 degrees, but don’t be surprised when tomorrow’s low hits 32 degrees. It’s certainly a chilly turn of events!

Feeling even colder

Adding to the chill are gustier winds, making it feel even colder. Areas such as Huntsville might feel like it’s 15 degrees, while Houston is expected to feel like it’s around 22 degrees.

Potential for hail
