Texas Longhorn fans may need to make some critical adjustments to their travel plans from Houston if they are heading north to Dallas for the College Football Playoff Semifinal game against Ohio State on Friday.
A wintry mess:
Let’s talk about the ingredients for what could be a big wintry headache for Longhorn fans heading up for the game on Friday.
Another shot of cold air is expected to plunge into the state late Wednesday, while a Pacific low-pressure system will plug a ton of warmer moisture meeting up with that cold air. Here’s where the problems begin:
The combination of warmer air from the Gulf hitting the very cold air around Dallas will lead to every form of wintry precipitation starting early Thursday with freezing rain on the roads and sleet, before changing over to snow by sunrise. Conditions will continue to deteriorate on the roads heading into Dallas through the day.
When should I leave?
While our far northern counties may see a few flurries and even some sleet/wintry mix for late Thursday afternoon/evening, the real trouble will be football fans heading up to Dallas for most of the day on Thursday.

Once you get to the game safely, thankfully we’re not expecting any issues inside of AT&T Stadium since the roof will be closed! However, tailgating will still be chilly even though most of the wintry mess will have moved on.
