Before you head out the door:
HOUSTON – We’re kicking off Thursday with some light showers along the coast and plenty of cloud cover, but temperatures (as you can see below), will stay well above freezing so expect just a cold rain through the day.
While the rain will mainly stay light through the morning hours, as we head into the afternoon, we expect it to pick up some intensity. Some areas could see some minor flooding so please be careful if you’re heading out this evening. Check out our live radar below:
Thursday’s Messy Forecast:
Again, it will be a cold, cloudy, wet day across SE Texas. We are forecasting the freezing line to be well to the north of us. This means we will only see cold rainfall.
If the freezing line drops south, we could see a wintry mix (freezing rain/ice) as far south as Madisonville. We’re not anticipating that we’ll see any accumulating ice, however, conditions could become a little slippery in the overnight hours. There is a chance to get some light sleet later this evening but nothing that should cause significant problems.
We will see the rain chances increasing through the day, especially as we approach the evening commute. This will mainly be cold rain showers, but a few isolated thunderstorms are possible. We are not expecting any severe weather but roads will likely become very wet through sunset and into late evening.
A steady moderate rainfall is expected to move in for the overnight hours. This will be a cold, nearly constant rainfall which means we could see isolated street flooding, but nothing that will cause too much alarm, mainly a wet leftover Friday morning drive. Temperatures will be in the upper-30s at night.
There is a risk for heavy rainfall that could lead to street flooding. The risk is highest for those south of I-10. This means you will need to plan for extra time on the roads Thursday . We’ll be monitoring the threat for a few inches of rain
Friday’s Forecast:
Some lingering showers are possible into Friday morning. Some roads may be wet for the very early commuters, but thankfully temperatures will be in the upper-30s so no frozen roads are expected.
Friday afternoon will be mostly cloudy and dry with temperatures staying in the 40s.
Saturday’s Forecast:
Our sunshine will finally return on Saturday, which will make for a wonderful and chilly day. For Texans fans headed out to NRG Saturday definitely pack a jacket! Temperatures will be warming through the 40s and into the lower-50s.
At game time temperatures will be at 52 degrees! Go Texans!
10-day Forecast:
After our messy Thursday and Friday morning conditions will improve! Saturday and Sunday will see a gentle warm up with highs reaching the 60s Sunday! Great weather for tailgating for the Texans playoff game Saturday!
