Thursday’s Forecast:
HOUSTON – Thursday will see a quick spike in the temperatures as a dry and warm southwesterly wind moves in Thursday. That wind will skyrocket temperatures to near record levels. Our record is 88° set in 1942. We should tie or possibly break that record!

This evening, a very mild night if you’re heading out to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. Jon Pardi takes the stage and we’ll see temps holding in the low 70s for most of the evening.

If you’ve noticed that you’re feeling a bit sneezy and sniffly, we do have issues with tree pollen. Oak numbers are climbing for the first time this year. You may have noticed the cat tails falling from the trees. Ash tree levels are also elevated.

Next cold front late Friday:
A cold front moves into southeast Texas late Friday night. This is a major storm system for the Ohio and Tennessee Valley but we are on the tail end of the front, therefore, we won’t see much in the way of rain or severe weather. Houston has a 20-30% chance of rain Saturday morning.

This, however, will be a significant severe weather outbreak for a chunk of the Midwest and Deep South Friday night into Saturday.

If you have travel plans anywhere from St. Louis to Atlanta and points in between, there could be widespread severe storms with tornadoes, hail and damaging winds.

10-day forecast:
The rest of the week will be warm, almost like an early taste of summer. Friday another chance to tie a record high of 88 set in 2008. St. Patrick’s Day weather looks good as well as the rest of the week for those kiddos and parents on Spring Break next week!
