HOUSTON – As you plan your weekend activities, KPRC’s meteorologist Justin Stapleton offers insights into what to expect. Here’s your detailed guide to navigating the weather and allergy conditions in the days ahead.
Fire weather backs off this weekend
Good news, folks! The red flag warnings have moved out of our area and are now affecting north and north-central Texas. Even so, the winds will still be around, with gusts expected to reach 15 to 20 mph.

It’s recommended to hold off on lighting any burn piles until better conditions, perhaps over the weekend. Expect temperatures to dip into the low 60s tonight, setting up a cool start for Saturday.
Allergy information and health advice
For those sensitive to pollen, be prepared—tree pollen levels remain very high. If you’ve noticed your allergies acting up lately, you’re not alone.

The last few weeks have been rough on anyone allergic. If you’re planning outdoor activities, like attending the rodeo, it might be wise to take allergy medication as a precaution.
Upcoming weather changes and potential storms
Looking ahead to Sunday, keep an eye on another front that is making its way toward us. While the worst of these storms should remain north, areas around Tyler, Shreveport, and the Arklatex region may see some stronger activity late Sunday night into early Monday.

This front could bring some showers and potential thunderstorms as it passes through, so stay informed with the latest updates from Storm Tracker 2.
