HOUSTON – After reaching the 80s this afternoon, we’ll slowly cool off into the upper 60s by the time you wake up Sunday morning. You can thank the added moisture from the Gulf for the mild weather Saturday evening.
However, with enough moisture and instability, showers and storms are possible Sunday. A weak front is expected to arrive overnight Sunday into Monday - meaning we have a slight chance for severe weather risk on Sunday evening. Everything you need to know to plan the rest of your weekend is below.
Sunday’s Forecast:
The last day of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo will be a warm and muggy day. A rain jacket or umbrella might be something to keep on hand throughout the day. Temperatures top off in the 80s with light showers possible throughout the day.

Here is what we are tracking for Sunday evening:
A weak cold front is expected is expected to arrive late Sunday evening. The cooler, dense air pushes under the warmer, lighter air and forces warm air to rise rapidly - providing just enough lift for strong storms to form out ahead of the front.
After the cold front sweeps through Sunday evening, rainy weather will continue into Monday. We’ll watch for the chance for showers and for thunderstorms overnight into the Monday morning commute.
10-day forecast:
Temperatures will be above average, staying in the 80s over the next 10 days. Our next weathermaker brings another chance of rain as we close out the week, including on the Astros home opener day Thursday.
