Prepare for a slick commute: Storms drench roads with early morning storms

Thankfully, improving conditions for the afternoon drive home

Morning roads remain wet after heavy storms

HOUSTON – Good morning, Houston! If you're heading out today, be prepared for some slick driving conditions. According to KPRC 2’s meteorologist Justin Stapleton, recent storms have soaked Northwest Harris County with up to 2.5 inches of rain. The morning commute has been marked with caution, so it’s wise to give yourself a bit more time to navigate those wet roads.

Afternoon sunshine and drier conditions ahead

But there’s good news ahead! As we move into the afternoon, temperatures are expected to rise to the low to mid-80s. With a strong high pressure system sliding in, we can look forward to a drier and sunnier day. The pesky humidity will start to diminish, making the latter part of the day a bit more comfortable.

Looking ahead: More storms on the horizon

Looking into the next few days, the weather is set to stay on the warm side, with highs reaching the upper 80s by tomorrow. However, keep an eye on Thursday, as another storm system is predicted to roll in, possibly bringing more thunderstorms. This could affect some local events, like the Street Fest and the Astros home opener, both scheduled for Thursday afternoon. Timing and impact remain uncertain, so we’ll keep a watch on the timing as new model info comes in.
