Friday’s afternoon storm forecast
HOUSTON – Expect relatively light showers initially, but prepare for intensifying conditions. By noon, showers and thunderstorms are predicted to refire, which could lead to a messy afternoon until approximately 5 p.m. when the storms are anticipated to move offshore.

If you’re planning to attend the Texas Children’s Houston Open, remember that afternoon rounds might face delays due to the weather.

What to expect this weekend and beyond
As the storms transition away by Saturday, Houston’s weather is expected to become calmer. Justin Stapleton forecasts a dry Saturday and Sunday with temperatures moving back up into the mid-eighties.

By the start of next week, however, slight daily rain chances return, but the predominant theme will be warmth with a hint of humidity as afternoon highs approach 90 degrees.
Houston’s temperature trends
We're looking at a rise in temperatures, characteristic of late April or mid-May weather. Expect overnight lows in the seventies, continuing the warm pattern as we move through the week.
