Houston area faces multiple rounds of storms and flood threats this week

KPRC 2’s team of meteorologists are tracking storms rolling through the greater Houston area through 11 p.m. Tuesday night. There were several severe thunderstorm warnings in effect.

The first round of storms that rolled through the region during the evening commute brought quarter sized hail and 60 mph wind gusts to some neighborhoods.

Thousands of lightning strikes were reported in the area during these storms. Several people are also without power.

Thursday’s Forecast:

Similar to Wednesday there will be more afternoon thunderstorms.

Tracking tropical moisture at the end of the week:

There is a large, disorganized area of tropical moisture in the Gulf. It shouldn’t form into a tropical storm or depression, but it will bring more organized heavy rain to the Gulf coast. There is a 60% that moisture is here Friday and Saturday. Both of these days we have a street flooding threat.
