Forecast track:
HOUSTON – Tropical Storm Arthur has officially formed in the Gulf Wednesday morning, making it the first named Atlantic storm of the season. The area of low pressure continues to move northeast along the Texas coastline.
Wednesday impacts:
We’ll continue to track the potential for a short-lived tropical storm. A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for our coastal communities, and tropical storm conditions are expected in those areas with 30- 50 mph winds along the path of the storm.
Storm surge: Because it isn’t spending a lot of time over water the storm surge will be manageable. Matagorda to Galveston should get a one-to-three-foot storm surge. East of Galveston the range will be 3 to 6 feet.
Rain:
We’ll track 2-6” of rain along our coastal cities. Plus a Storm surge is 1 to 6 feet is still possible.

Remember: Turn Around, Don’t Drown. Even a small amount of moving water can sweep away a vehicle.
If flooding develops in your area, we’d love to see what you’re seeing. If you can do so safely, submit photos and videos through Click2Pins to help us track conditions across Southeast Texas. Your reports help our weather team identify areas experiencing flooding and may be featured on-air, online, or on our social media platforms.
