Houston heat this week: Triple-digit temperatures and dangerous feels like temps continue

Heat Advisories extend into Monday evening, likely reissued for Tuesday

Hot Houston

More heat, humidity and triple-digit temps:

We hit 100° again on Sunday afternoon, marking the fourth time this week and the fifth time this summer that Houston has reached the century mark. More triple-digit temperatures are in the forecast.

Combined with Houston’s humidity, afternoon heat index values will climb to between 108° and 112°. The current Heat Advisory runs through Monday evening, and will likely be extended through at least Wednesday as this dangerous heat wave continues.

Late Week finally some relief (sort of):

Late in the week, the strong ridge of high pressure moves west, opening the door for more Gulf moisture and a weak disturbance to increase rain chances starting Thursday. However, temperatures will remain in the upper 90s. Not a huge rain chance but we’ll take anything to provide some heat relief.

Thursday evening we’re in for a celestial treat; There is a partial lunar eclipse expected around 11pm so hope for a thinning cloud cover if we do see some afternoon storms.

Here’s when Houston can catch the the lunar eclipse on August 27

High pressure slides west

Tracking the tropics:

Monitoring two areas of tropical concern in the Atlantic basin. One zone is north of Bermuda and has a 50% chance of development over the next7 days.

The second area is a tropical wave moving off the coast of Africa. It now has a 60% chance of development.

10 Day Forecast:

This is one of the hottest stretches that we’ve seen so far this 2026 summer. With a few more days of 100-degree heat likely, this will be the longest stretch of 100 consecutive days since 2023.
