HOUSTON – Authorities are responding to reports of homeowners climbing into their attics to avoid flooding from the rains of Harvey.
According to the Harris County Flood Control District, officials are receiving calls about people getting into their attics.

Jeff Lindner with HCFCD said the flooding in southeast Harris County is "equal to or greater than Tropical Storm Allison."
We have also received reports of water in homes in Westbury, Friendswood, Alvin and other areas.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said 6-foot flood waters are being reported around the Scarsdale area in southeast Harris County.
The National Weather Service and Lindner are urging people to get onto the roof instead of climbing into the attic if there is rising water, then call 911 or the Coast Guard at 281-464-4851, but only if you are in a life-threatening situation.
While on the roof, wave a towel or sheet to be noticed from the air.
Five USCG helicopters are conducting rescues in the Houston area.
The Coast Guard said more than 300 requests for urban search and rescue have been received by the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Houston Command Center.
