Employees from Energy Transfer’s Houston offices rolled up their sleeves on Thursday to paint the exterior of a north Houston home for a family in need. The project was coordinated by The Restoration Team, a nonprofit that provides free home safety repairs and upgrades for homeowners who could not otherwise afford them. The repairs are typically needed due to destruction from severe weather events like Hurricane Beryl, where aging homes sustain damage from tree debris or water seeping into the house.

Families like the Martinez-Leija family reach out to The Restoration Team for help when they cannot afford to make the repairs themselves. KPRC 2′s Amy Davis introduced us to 88-year-old Juana Martinez-Leija and shared her story along with the need her family faced to update their aging home to make it safe for years to come. You can see that story here.

Energy Transfer’s volunteers also assisted with yard cleanup and to create a prayer garden for Mrs. Martinez-Leija, which was something important to her to help honor her late husband’s memory.
