As Seen on TV Tuesday: Simply Straight Hair Straightening Brush

Some wavy and curly-hair women spend hours each week straightening their spiraled locks. Flat irons and hair dryers can damage your hair. Consumer expert Amy Davis is testing Simply Straight , a brush that claims to straighten even kinky, curly hair type with no fuss and no damage. You plug in the brush to heat it up just like a flat iron, but the manufacturer claims it can straighten your hair in half the time.

We asked KPRC 2 producers Glorianne Quintero and Kelci Johnston to try the Simply Straight brush. Qunitero's hair is thick and naturally wavy. She usually uses a round brush and a hair dryer to straighten her tresses. Johnston's hair is kinky curly unless she straightens it with a flat iron. Each used Simply Straight on just one side of their head. They straightened the other side as they normally do.

Your hair has to be dry and clean (no products) when you use Simply Straight. You set the temperature on the brush for your hair type; and a blinking light lets you know when it's ready.

Kelci's kinky locks were straight in about 12 minutes whether she used her flat iron or the brush.
"It worked," said an unimpressed Johnston. "It just ... it didn't wow me like the infomercial.  It wasn't just kind of like "Merrrr" like miracle-straight," she explained.

Johnston said it took several passes with Simply Straight; and she still preferred the side of her head straightened with her Chi.

"I do think that the Chi side is straighter," she said.

Both sides of Glorianne's hair were equally straight and shiny.

"I think it took less time with this brush," she said. "I would pay for $40 for it because it was fast. It did straighten my hair."

Glorianne also said she feels like the Simply Straight brush wasn't as harsh on her hair as the blow dryer and round brush. It seems the success of the product probably depends on your hair type.
