HOUSTON – It's not the 1980s, but the song "Go, Go Astros" has made a recent resurgence as the Houston Astros have made it into the World Series.
Mack Hayes is the musician behind the adopted fight song, "Go, Go Astros," written in 1979.
He was born and raised in Houston, and his love for music and sports made him a hometown star.
Hayes and his rock band, Countdown 5, toured with Liza Minnelli in his golden days.
One of his earlier songs is the famous, "Love Ya Blue," played at the sidelines for the Houston Oilers at the Astrodome.
Hayes is still performing. You can catch him every Friday and Saturday night at the Sundance Grill II in Kemah.
