McDonald’s is selling Happy Meals for adults — Here’s what’s inside

You’re never too old for a Happy Meal, or at least that’s the feel-good sentiment McDonald’s is counting on.

The multinational fast food chain on Monday began selling Happy Meals for adults, a promotional initiative that draws on the nostalgia of the hamburger behemoth’s iconic red, smiling cardboard boxes.

“Everyone remembers their first Happy Meal as a kid... and the can’t-sit-still feeling as you dug in to see what was inside,” a McDonald’s press release reads. “That little red box could turn a regular Tuesday into the best. day. ever. And now, we’re reimagining that experience in a whole new way – this time, for adults.”

The Cactus Plant Flea Market Box is a collaboration between McDonald’s and the streetwear brand. The Happy Meals area available at participating McDonald’s locations while supplies last.

“We’re taking one of the most nostalgic McDonald’s experiences and literally repackaging it in a new way that’s hyper-relevant for our adult fans,” said Tariq Hassan, McDonald’s USA chief marketing and customer experience officer, in a press statement.

A super-sized version of the kiddie classic, the Cactus Plant Flea Market Box comes with the choice of a Big Mac or the 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, fries, and a fountain drink.

Inside every box is a toy, “one of four collectible figurines” of McDonald’s characters the Hamburglar, Birdie and Gimace and the promotion one-off Cactus Buddy.

As part of the collaboration, McDonald’s and Cactus Plant Flea Market also launched a limited-supply line of tees and hoodies.
