It all began when district officials said students, staff, and parents reported seeing “green fur, a twisted smile. and an uncanny ability to slither across campuses.”
District officials said students at Burchett Elementary School were met with what was described as missing items inside stockings and classroom decorations.
That was when the principal, Na’Carol Dixon-Hall, discovered him sitting at her desk. He fled and was never found.
Later, he slithered over to Wells Middle School where he attempted to swipe decorations from the school’s annual holiday concert.
Witnesses at the school told police that he muttered something along the lines of “no singing in Whoville,” while “trying to stuff a Christmas tree inside a sack three sizes too small.”
Then, he hopped over to The Bailey School of Performing and Visual Arts, where officers with the Spring Police Department were called to investigate.
Armed with “candy cane handcuffs and tinsel lassos,” they were able to detain the green troublemaker after a “strategic use of holiday carol karaoke.”
“The Grinch might have thought he could steal Christmas, but he underestimated the festive spirit of Spring ISD,” said Spring ISD Chief of Police Matthew Rodrigue. “We were determined to protect the joy and merriment of our students, and we did just that.”
‘The Grinch’ remains in custody at the North Pole Detention Center. He is charged with “holiday hooliganism” and ”reckless jingling.”
The district released the following statement:
Spring ISD remains committed to the safety and joy of its students, proving that even the Grinch can’t steal the warmth and wonder of the holiday season in our tight-knit community.
