Reward Offered After Man, 85, Killed In Home

Harmon's neighbors became concerned after they did not see or hear from him for several days.

Police said Harmon, was bound and gagged, was beaten to death during a home invasion.

"The motive, at this point, we believe, is robbery. There are indications at the scene that led us to believe -- we also believe that the suspects in this case probably are from the area and knew Mr. Harmon's routine," said Sgt. Michael McStravick with the Houston Police Department.

Police said a large ice box was among the stolen items.

"We hope that you who knows what happened to Uncle Percy will come forward, give us that information that we need to bring his killer to justice," said Janice Simmons, Harmon's niece. "The people in the neighborhood we are told, are terrified. There are many older people there that are afraid to open the doors."

Harmon lived alone.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $6,000 reward for information to solve the case. Anyone with tips is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
