HOUSTON – A Houston school is one of the top high schools in the United States, according to a national magazine.
Carnegie Vanguard High School was ranked No. 13 on the Newsweek's magazine top high schools annual list.
"I'm really excited and kind of proud of everyone that we managed to get ranked so high," said Rachel Jones, a sophomore.
Every single student goes on to some type of higher education at Carnegie.
Ramon Moss, Carnegie Vanguard's principal, said being ranked as one of the top high schools in the country is good for the school and the students
"We've made the rankings every year, and our students have been able to continually grow year after year academically. We're very proud of that," he said.
The students are proud. too.
"It makes you feel some pride for your achievements," said Dylan Wagner, a sophomore. "It makes you a little more competitive with the other students."
The school had a better overall score this year thanks to a 100 percent graduation rate and an average SAT score of 1849.
