HOUSTON – Part of Texas State University in San Marcos was evacuated Thursday because of a bomb threat.
University officials said the threat was that a bomb would be detonated in the admissions building. It was immediately evacuated.

The threat was made via an email that a Houston-based admissions counselor received at 7:21 a.m. When she discovered the threat, she told her supervisors who then told university police.
The Tower and San Jacinto buildings, which are both residence halls, were also evacuated to create an 800-foot safety perimeter, officials said.
Shortly after noon, the university said the threat was over and allowed people to return to the Tower and San Jacinto buildings. The admissions building remained closed as a precaution, officials said.
Because of the specific nature of the threat, classes continued as scheduled.
