HOUSTON – A man died after a fiery crash on the Eastex Freeway in northeast Houston.
The 18-wheeler caught fire around 5 a.m. Wednesday in the northbound lanes of the freeway near Rankin Rd.

The 18-wheeler contained some type of flammable liquid and was completely engulfed when firefighters arrived.
The fire forced police to shut down the northbound side of the highway.
The driver died at the scene. His name has not been released.
Detectives are working to determine the cause of the fire.
