Woman found dead in pickup truck in southwest Houston

Police say she may have been dead for days

HOUSTON – Homicide detectives are investigating after a woman's body was found inside of a pickup truck.

The white pickup truck was parked outside of the Enclave Bellaire Town Homes off the 5500 block of Pines Street. According to police, the woman found inside of the truck was in her 20s and her description matches that of a missing person's case.

The missing person is 22-year-old Abigail Owens and her family believes it was her body found inside the truck.  Police aren't confirming the woman's identity until an autopsy can be completed, but Owens' family said they already know it's Abigail.

"I knew it from the tattoos," mother Norma Owens said. "But the fingerprints have been confirmed now."

Police said the woman's body was placed awkwardly inside of the vehicle, and there appeared to be a small hole in the passenger side window.

"We don't know exactly whether she's been stabbed or shot," HPD investigator C.G. Cardenas said.  "But she's been there for a few days."

According to her family, Owens was last seen November 4 when she borrowed her boyfriend's truck.  That truck, recently reported stolen, is registered to Owens' boyfriend.  It's the same pickup where the woman's body was found early Friday morning.

"I just want (Abigail) to be remembered for the loving mother that she was," her brother Michael Owens said.  "Everybody here is gonna miss her sorely. I really want to see the person responsible for this brought to justice."

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
