ALVIN, Texas – An Alvin ISD high school student has been arrested on a terroristic threat charge, the district confirmed Monday.
Alvin ISD says the 10th grader was overheard by people on campus making a verbal threat of aggression.
"That's not cool and they should be stopped. Kids shouldn't be thinking about that at school. School should be somewhere we should be able to come and be safe," said student Vivian Padilla.
The district said the threat was immediately reported to campus administrators who then contacted Alvin ISD police.
Alvin ISD Police released this statement:
"We believe the student made a statement that is highly inappropriate; however, we do not believe the student had the intent means to carry out a threat. We are confident that the safety of our students and staff have not been compromised."
Meanwhile, the school was never put on lockdown and some question if that was the right thing to do.
"They should have locked down the schools so we would have been safe and everybody was still going to class and doing what they always do and I think they should have locked us in the classroom or something," said student Gregoria Valdez.
Officials said the student taken into custody and removed from the campus.
No other information has been released at this time.
