HOUSTON – Police are asking for help identifying the person who show a man in the face multiple times.
A family member told Local 2 the victim, identified as 20-year-old Molitha Hunter, was shot six times in the parking lot of a shopping center at 1060 W. Tidwell on Sunday.
"They say he got shot in the face," said the victim's brother-in-law, who asked not to be identified. "I mean, you can see the cups over there. There's at least 20 cups over there."
Local 2 counted almost 20 white cups along the ground that represent evidence, possibly bullet casings.
"So this is more of a hate thing for nothing," said the brother-in-law.
Police were called to the parking lot after people nearby say they heard 15-20 shots being fired.
Police are not releasing many details about what happened, but family members told Local 2 Hunter is a young father.
Houston police say Hunter was reportedly shot by a man wearing a blue or black hoodie and dark bandanna over his face.
The suspect then took off running.
"I know it needs to stop, man. This is senseless," the brother-in-law said.
Family and friends comforted each other before rushing to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital, where they were told Hunter had died.
While some witnesses reported there may have been six people involved in the shooting, police are searching for one suspect in a blue hoodie.
Anyone with any information on this shooting is asked to call the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
