HOUSTON – A man is facing a murder charge after police say he shot an acquaintance in his southwest Houston driveway.
The shooting happened at around 10 p.m. Tuesday in the 17300 block of Artwood Lane. According to the Houston Police Department, two men, who were long-time acquaintances, stopped to talk to one another in the neighborhood. The victim, Jamaal Foster, told the suspect, Patrick Smith, that he was going to stop by his house.

Smith returned home and Foster drove to his residence. As Foster approached Smith in his driveway, police say Smith told Foster to leave and brandished a shotgun. After police say Smith felt Foster was not complying with his request, Smith shot Foster several times.
Foster, 33, died at the scene.
Smith, 25, was taken into custody and charged with murder. He is in the Fort Bend County Jail.
