No description found

HOUSTON – A custody hearing was held Thursday for the little sister of the disabled girl who was found dead stuffed inside a refrigerator drawer in a southwest Houston apartment.

The 5-year-old had been placed in foster care since her sister's body was found two weeks ago. It was determined Thursday that the girl will now live with her aunt.

The girls' mother, Amber Keyes, was not at Thursday's hearing, but the father of the kids, Armand Comb, was present at the hearing. The judge ruled he cannot see his 5-year-old daughter without CPS supervision.

Comb's attorney tells Local 2 that this is what the father wants and he thinks it is the right thing. Comb will undergo a drug test and once he passes the drug test, he will be able to see his daughter only with CPS supervision.

It all started on May 9 when Ayahna, who suffered from cerebral palsy, was found dead in a refrigerator drawer in a home in southwest Houston. It was determined Ayahna died late January and investigators say Keyes admitted to wrapping the child's body in a blanket and placing it in a refrigerator drawer.

At some point the grandmother of the little girl would like to have the girl in her home, but this investigation is ongoing. There's another status hearing scheduled for mid-August.

We're still waiting on autopsy results to determine how Ayahna died.

Court documents state Keyes admitted that she continued to collect Social Security disability income and food stamps for Ayahna following her death. She even renewed the benefits last month and got an increase.

According to court documents, Keyes has done time behind bars. In 1998 police arrested her on possession of a controlled substance charges. She spent more than a year in prison.

In 2000 police arrested her for criminal trespass; she did 30 days in jail.

CPS investigators say the mother of three has a history of substance abuse and a history with their agency.

Keyes lost custody of her eldest daughter, who was eventually put up for adoption in 2004.
