IHOP restaurant workers, customers robbed at gunpoint in Spring

Detectives release new surveillance video of armed robbers

SPRING, Texas – Montgomery County sheriff's deputies released new video of a robbery that happened at the IHOP restaurant in the 25000 block of the North Freeway in Spring.

It happened in the early morning hours of July 23, but the robbers may be connected to three other crimes that have happened since, and investigators are hoping the video will help identify them.

The surveillance cameras captured four armed men with their heads and faces covered barging into the restaurant just before 2 a.m. They went from table to table taking purses and wallets from unsuspecting customers at gunpoint.

"I heard him cussing at one of the customers, and I glanced over my shoulder and I saw the white mask and a gun pointed at a customer and I ran," said one employee who was inside the night it happened.

She told Local 2 she saw the men leave the restaurant and jump into two separate vehicles. Two men got into a small silver or gray Honda with a black fender and the others got into an older model red truck, with an extended cab and square front. She said a fifth suspect was driving the truck.

"Not only did they take from our customers and our store but they take your sense of security," she said.

Three other IHOPs have been robbed in a similar fashion over the last two weeks; On July 25, the restaurant at 1414 Cypress Station was robbed, on July 28 robbers hit the IHOP on East Crosstimbers and Aug. 5 the FM 1960 location near Champions Forest was targeted.

Detectives are now trying to determine if it's the same men committing all the crimes. If you recognize the robbers from the surveillance video, call the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office at 936-760-5876.
