As with the first child from this incident, the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy.
In conjunction with Brazoria County District Attorney's Office, the Pearland Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
Hearts were heavy Tuesdayh in the quiet Pearland neighborhood where emergency responders found the sisters after their mother dialed 911.
"As I was talking to a couple of the neighbors, I saw them bring out the twins. They were lifeless doing CPR on them," neighbor Raymond Pena said.
The babies were rushed to nearby Dawson High School where a Life Flight helicopter landed to airlift one of the girls to the hospital. A second chopper for her sister wasn't far behind.
Bill Poston says his wife went to the hospital to be with the children's mother.
"She was going to work at the food pantry in Manvel and she came back in about 10 minutes later and said that God told me I need to go be with Barbara," Poston said.
Police are investigating the events leading up to that frantic 911 call made by the mother around 11:30 a.m. They can't say whether they suspect foul play because it's early on in the investigation.
"Any time a child is harmed or injured, we're going to investigate it to see if there was a criminal charge," Lt. Patrick Savage said.
Neighbors are hoping and praying for some good news.
"I don't know this particular family with the two little girls but it's devastating for the community for all that are involved," neighbor Robert Philbrook said.
