Two people killed in accident in north Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – The Harris County Sheriff's Department confirms that two people are dead after an accident Tuesday in north Harris County.

The two appear to be men in their late teens and appear to be Hispanic, a Harris County deputy said.

Witnesses told Channel 2 News a truck was traveling eastbound on Gears Road and ran a red light. The driver then crashed into four other cars before the truck wrapped around a tree many feet past the intersection.

A sheet was hung over part of the truck where the bodies of the two people who were killed lay.

Inside one of the cars hit were three young children. They and their mom, who was driving, are expected to be OK.

Law enforcement spent hours interviewing numerous witnesses to the crash.

Patricia Jackson was waiting to go through the intersection and witnessed the crash happen in front of her.

"This car comes flying down. I mean, he was doing about 60, 65 easily. And he just ran the red light and he hit her and I heard him hit something else, but I couldn't see it. But when he went into the fence, I saw the fence go up in the air. I didn't see anything after that," Jackson told Channel 2 News.
