HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that happened around 1 a.m. Sunday at the North Oaks Apartments at 225 Aldine Bender Road.
The victim has been identified as Michelle Garcia, 24. Garcia was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Police said Garcia was shot in the face. Investigators said her boyfriend drove her to the St. Joseph Medical Center and asked for help. Garcia's boyfriend then left the hospital without providing any more information about the shooting, according to HPD.
Officials said the man returned to the hospital several hours later and told police that he found Garcia lying at the front door of her apartment with a gunshot wound. The man told investigators the shooting happened at Garcia's apartment.
