HOUSTON – Houston police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened along the Southwest Freeway Thursday morning.
Police said a dark-colored four-door car or SUV pulled alongside the victim's vehicle, then several gunshots were fired from the suspect's vehicle into the victim's vehicle.
The victim, identified as Martin Cardenas, was shot in the left side. Cardenas' friends then found him in his vehicle on the side of the road and transported him to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital.
Cardenas, 30, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police said witnesses reported Cardenas may have been involved in an altercation at a night club shortly before the incident, but it's unclear if that was the motive for the shooting.
Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
Editor's Note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that two bodies were found along the freeway.
