Pasadena ISD: Student says teacher texted him inappropriate picture

PASADENA, Texas – Parents are reacting to the news of a local teacher allegedly being caught texting an inappropriate picture to a grade school student at Southmore Intermediate School in Pasadena.  Even those who live in the neighborhood, whose kids don't attend the school right now were surprised.

"It's kind of sad to know that it's going on right now," says Delilah Gomez. "But I can't say that it honestly surprises me much."

"It's kind of scary because my daughter will be here next year," adds Sherisse Gonzalez.

The district says a male student reported Friday that a female teacher sent the photo to his cell phone.  The principal says when administrators confronted the teacher with the allegation she resigned.

In a strongly worded statement to Channel 2, a district spokesperson says "This incident is upsetting to parents and educators alike. When a teacher breaks that trust the majority of educators who truly care about the well-being of students have to work twice as hard to regain the trust."

In the meantime parents are applauding the young man for speaking up.

"That's something that we would want to encourage our children to do," says Delilah Gomez.  "To have open communication with not only the parents, but the teachers as well."

The school is asking parents to talk to their children about cyber safety and to ask them if they have any information about this particular incident or any other.
