Alleged hit list by family accused in honor killing revealed in court

HOUSTON – Channel 2 Investigates has learned a so-called hit list collected during a search warrant has been tied to a husband, wife and son charged with murder.

"We have information that there was a hit list involved in this case, it includes federal agents," the prosecutor told judge Jan Crocker on Friday

Channel 2 has learned a judge, prosecutors, and federal and local members of law enforcement are mentioned by name on the list.

In all, about a dozen people are targeted, a source who had seen the list said.

The alleged hit list first came to light publicly in court, Friday morning, during a court appearance for Shmou Ali Alrawabdeh, 37.

She is a mother, a wife and she's charged in the 2012 murder of an student activist, who supposedly was a bad influence on the suspect's own daughter.

At the center of the investigation is her husband, Ali Irsan, 57. He was in court Thursday and has been tied to two murders.

A son, Nasim Ali Irsan, has also been charged Gelareh Bagherzadeh's murder in January 2012. She had been shot in her car.

Friday, the defense attorney had an interesting response to the revelation, although not confirm it's existence.

"I have heard rumors of something along those lines ," said attorney Catherine Scardino. "I actually wanted to ask the prosecutor to give me a copy of that hit list to make sure that my name wasn't on it."

Reporter Joel Eisenbaum will have more on this story this afternoon on KPRC 2 News.
