PASADENA, Texas – A Pasadena High School student died after collapsing during P.E. class at the school Friday morning.
Pasadena ISD said the male student collapsed around 11:45 a.m. Friday during a physical education class while running on the track.
The 16-year-old student was transported to the hospital where he later died. The cause of his death is unknown at this time.
Sources have confirmed to KPRC 2 that the student's name is Eric Medina.
"Today we're just working through the grief of what happened. Next week we'll look into exactly what did happen and if there was anything that could have been done differently. But at this point, we're just dealing with terrible, terrible loss of a 16-year-old student," said Pasadena ISD Assistant Superintendent Renea Ivy.
