HOUSTON – The U.S. Postal Service said one of its mailmen was attacked by a pit bull in east Houston Wednesday afternoon.
The postal worker was delivering mail on Indianapolis near Uvalde when he was attacked; he was rushed to a hospital. Houston police said they got the call as a vicious dog attack.
Neighbors said the letter carrier had bites on his arm and knee, and dropped his mail bag.
Ricardo Reyna said his dad heard the postal worker in trouble and ran to help.
"He did see the man on the floor and hear him screaming, so my dad rushed over there," said Reyna. "He was scared what was going on. But thank God the guy wasn't hurt as much."
People who live on the street said the dog is usually kept tied up behind the house.
