HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department is investigating after a man was assaulted around 12:30 a.m. Saturday at an apartment complex at 6101 Rampart Street.
The victim has been identified as Eduardo Mejia-Mencos, 43. Investigators said he was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Houston police released a statement that read in part, "Officers responded to a report of an assault at the above address and found Mr. Mejia-Mencos suffering from multiple injuries to his head and body. Witnesses reported three suspects, described only as black males, assaulted and robbed Mejia-Mencos. The suspects then fled in an unknown direction."
