HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Two suspects who allegedly tied up a family during a home invasion were arrested after a chase Tuesday morning in northwest Harris County. Three more suspects are being sought.
According to deputies, as many as five suspects barged into a home in the 18100 block of Dunoon Bay Point while a family of three was asleep, around 1:45 a.m.
The suspects roughed up the family and tied them up while they rummaged through the home for several hours, stealing property, deputies said. The family members, including an 8-year-old boy, were not hurt.
A deputy ran across the suspects as they fled the scene and a chase began. The suspects bailed out of the car in the 14700 block of Mills Park and fled on foot.
Two men are in custody: Toddrick Cartwright, 20, and Cornelius Lathers Jr., 21.
"This is a perfect example of our officers being at the right place, doing their jobs," said Constable Mark Herman of Precinct 4. "We don't know what other damage these guys could have caused, or who else they may have hurt if they were not caught. We have some pretty good leads and we hope to catch the other 3 very soon," said Constable Herman.
Officers are also investigating to see whether these men were involved in other home robberies in the area.
An HPD helicopter was called in to assist in searching the area.
Deputy constables said they found guns and other property inside the getaway vehicle.
